The opportunity 

We are looking for forward-thinking Production Manager to work in our brick manufacturing plant at Bringelly. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will support and manage production activities to ensure we meet CSR's safety expectations and plant performance, production quality, customer service, profit and shareholder value add.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and manage site operations with a strong focus on people management and constructive leadership. 
  • Demonstrate and promote Workplace Health, Safety and Environmental objectives through consultation, Company standards and legislative requirements.
  • Proactively seek opportunity to improve operational performance (waste reduction; product quality; productivity).
  • Effectively drive operational efficiencies by managing site P&L and other financial related matters.
  • Seek opportunity to lead, coach and mentor your team to grow and improve skill levels.
  • Implement continuous improvement, lean manufacturing principles, problem solving and root cause analysis.
  • Liaise and co-ordinate activities with other business areas including Sales, Customer Service, Warehousing and national teams.
  • Utilise well developed communication skills with diverse key stakeholders, fostering a proactive work culture and high employee morale.

Attributes for success:

  • Experience in a continuous manufacturing environment.
  • Hold an engineering or manufacturing qualification.
  • Strong capability and willingness to independently identify and resolve operational issues and implement outcome focused solutions.
  • The maturity and self-sufficiency to effectively lead site operations and people management with minimal supervision.
  • A strong ability to effectively lead and manage multiple small teams across different rosters and areas.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and influence at all levels.
  • The capability to engage the workforce and influence personnel to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Achievements in safety through personal leadership, behavioural change programs and structured plans.
  • A proven ability to resolve issues in a timely and effective manner and where required attend customer site meetings and work in partnership with key stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage budgets and financial matters, including site P&L.
  • Experience with SAP welcome, Excel skills highly desired.
  • Ability to effectively set manning levels that optimise shift structures and plant efficiency.
  • Experience in managing industrial relations matters at a site level.
  • Proven ability to be solution focused and partner with key stakeholders.

You will have a hands-on approach with extensive experience leading production teams from the factory floor. Your ability to understand production processes is essential. A background in engineering and possessing a mechanical mind is preferable.
