Senior Improvement Engineer – Somersby

Part of the CSR family, our Construction Systems Business Unit comprises of Cemintel™ Fibre Cement Systems, CSR Hebel and AFS Walling solutions. We manufacture and market a full range of products for residential and commercial applications including a large range of products and systems that cover internal linings, residential and commercial façades, flooring, and innovative proprietary wall and framing systems. We are a high growth business area, with the desire to continue to build solutions.

This role is based at our Somersby Operation on the central coast, boasting a laid back lifestyle and a family friendly community. For those residing in Sydney, we are less than an hours commute from the CBD.

The Opportunity

This opportunity will be located at our Somersby site. You will be responsible for identifying and driving improvement opportunities across all parts of the manufacturing process.
Reporting into the Engineering & Reliability Manager you will work closely with production, engineering, and other functional areas where your responsibilities will include;

  • Identifying key improvement opportunities, establish new systems and procedures in order to improve the reliability and capability of the site
  • Engage with staff and use innovative and lean manufacturing techniques to drive and facilitate change management programs
  • Manage the change process associated with the introduction of any new initiatives
  • Track, monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of any changes made
  • Ensure all installed equipment meets or exceeds safety requirements and standards.

To be considered for this role you will have previous experience within a continuous manufacturing environment, enjoy working with people as well as have;

  • Degree qualified in an engineering discipline. (e.g., Mechanical, Process, Mechatronic, Industrial, Manufacturing)
  • At least 5+ years’ experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in mechanical design
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and execution
  • A passion for process improvement and exposure to a lean environment
  • The ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and work well under pressure
  • Excellent computer skills with exposure to CAD merited.
  • This role requires engineering competencies, including insights and problem-solving skills including failure assessments and solution derivation which are key to continuous improvement of reliability.
